When you’re shopping for the best nappies in the UK—especially eco nappies or bamboo nappies—you’ve probably come across a flurry of eco-labels, seals, and certifications on the packaging. They sound impressive (and they are!), but we know it can be a little overwhelming trying to decode what they all actually mean.
So today, we're lifting the lid on the values behind our badges. Here's what each of our accreditations stands for—and why they matter for your baby, your family, and our planet. 💚
-
B Corp™ Certified
We’re beyond proud to be a certified B Corp, and even more thrilled to be recognised as “Best for the World” in the environment category.
Across the globe less than 0.01% of all businesses are B-corps. It is a very elite, highly respected certification. In order to become a B-Corp, not only must a business pass the rigorous assessment, but they will need to change their legal purpose for the good of the community and environment and commit to a high level of charitable donation.
We are thrilled to be the highest scoring B-Corp nappy / diaper brand in the world!
Why it matters for you: You’re supporting a business that puts people and planet before profit—and has the receipts to prove it.

Mama Bamboo nappies, pants and wipes are certified by FSC® (Forestry Stewardship Council ®). The FSC® is the leading authority for responsible wood sourcing. Since 2008 bamboo, though a grass rather than a wood, has been included in the scheme and is closely controlled. FSC certification means all the bamboo used in our products comes from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social, and economic benefits.
Why it matters for you: Every time you open a pack of our nappies, you’re supporting sustainable forestry. It’s a small change that adds up to a big difference.
-

This globally recognised certification ensures that every material used in our nappies and pants is tested and found free from harmful substances. You can rest easy knowing that your baby’s nappies are harmless to human health. Every thread, seam and accessory has been tested against a list of over 1,000 harmful substances. And the more intensive the skin contact, which nappies certainly are as they are worn 24 hours a day, the stricter the human ecology requirements.

Vegan Society
The Vegan Society rigorously assess products to ensure alignment with their vegan standards for finished articles and the full lifecycle of production. The Vegan Trademark is an internationally recognised vegan product certification, established in 1990 by The Vegan Society.
Vegan is actually more rigorous than the more commonly seen ‘Cruelty free’ badges. When a product declares itself 'cruelty-free', either through self-labelling or through a different certification, it's making a specific claim about animal testing: that the product has not been tested on animals. This is certainly a step in the right direction, representing a move away from outdated and inhumane practices but the cruelty-free label addresses only one aspect of animal exploitation. Vegan products represent a more thorough commitment to ethical production. Simply put, the Vegan Trademark means more. When a product is truly vegan, to the standards set by The Vegan Society, it means:
-
It contains absolutely no animal-derived ingredients or by-products in the finished product or anywhere along the supply chain.
-
The development and/or manufacture of the product, and its ingredients, must not involve or have involved, testing of any sort on animals conducted at the initiative of the company or on its behalf, or by parties over whom the company has effective control.

ONCRA-approved Bamboo Village – our Carbon Neutral Partnership
This one makes us extra proud. We have been a platinum partner for the ONCRA-approved Bamboo Village Carbon Offsetting project since our inception in 2018. Their bamboo plantations in Uganda serves as a natural carbon removal method, harnessing the power of our favourite plant! Bamboo is one of the most sustainable materials on Earth, it’s fast-growing, requires no pesticides, and absorbs 3x more carbon dioxide than any other woody plant or tree. The plantation also supports local farmers to find meaningful employment and become self-sufficient.
So what is ONCRA? ONCRA is a certifying body for local nature-based carbon removal projects ONCRA is dedicated to ensuring local projects are properly managed, audited and accountable for their calculations and reporting on carbon sequestration and offsetting. In a sea of small unregulated projects and questionable calculating schemes, this certifying body is an absolute must for any reputable business using carbon offsetting as part of their Net Zero strategy.
In order to achieve our goals, set under the Paris Agreement, all businesses should practice Carbon Removal alongside Emission Reduction. Reducing emissions has been proven to be insufficient to attain the objectives within the given timeframe. The Oxford Principles and other global initiatives propose the adoption of carbon dioxide removal (CDR) as a crucial strategy for realising the world’s climate goals.
Using standardised formula and calculators, we measure how much CO2 we still produce after all our carbon reduction practises and processes are taken into account and offset it through planting bamboo. Last year we were registered as carbon positive, meaning we went beyond achieving net-zero carbon emissions, and removing 10% additional carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, resulting in a net benefit to the planet.
