Is it free to return by post? 

Yes. Once you scan the label on the bottom of your empty bottle, you will unlock a freeport return label. You can use this to return your empty bottle for free.

What happens to the bottle after I return it?

Each returned bottle will be professionally cleaned and reused.

Why is Reuse better then Recycle?

Only 9% of the UK's plastic is ever recycled; even if it is collected for recycling.

And recycling plastic bottles is a carbon heavy process which results in lesser valued goods being created each time they are recycled.

The functional properties of plastic are reduced each time it is recycled. Most plastic can only be recycled 7 times before it is useless.

Eventually all of today's plastic bottles will end up in landfill. They may be recycled a couple of times but they will still ultimately end up as plastic waste. Tomorrow's recycled plant pots or regenerated plastic tablemats will still end up in landfill eventually.

Washing and reusing aluminium bottles on the other hand maintains the value and integrity of the product. There is no limit to how many times an aluminium bottle can be washed so it could enjoy years of usefulness.

Eventually of course the bottle will get damaged and then it can be recycled into something useful because aluminium maintains its value as a recycled product.
