Mama Bamboo's Charity Partnerships

Mama Bamboo's Charity Partnerships
At Mama Bamboo we are not just about producing eco-friendly and sustainable nappies and wipes that babies love; we also recognise that we have the power to help on a much wider scale. Part of the company’s founding ethos was to donate a portion of our products to charitable causes each year. So in 2023 we embarked on a charitable partnership with the Ickle Pickles Children’s Charity (Ickle Pickles).

Ickle Pickles is a charity set up to help the 90,000 babies born sick or prematurely every year in the UK by raising money for equipment and support for families going through some of the toughest times. Mama Bamboo worked with Ickle Pickles to design our Size 0 Tiny baby nappies so we could support the families of some of the littlest babies in neonatal care with a product that is not only sustainable and eco-friendly but much gentler for tiny baby skin.
By donating our size 0 tiny baby and size 1 newborn nappies to five neonatal units including the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester, Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich, Tunbridge Wells Hospital and Croydon University Hospital we wanted to make the stressful time in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) a little easier.

Today we are proud to announce that we will be extending this support to the Barnet Hospital's Starlight neonatal unit in North London.  Speaking about the new partnership, Claire Hart, the Senior Sister in the Starlight Neonatal Unit said;

'We would love to extend our heartfelt gratitude for the incredible support we've received through recent nappy donations by Mama Bamboo for our NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit). We have been able to gift them to parents on their baby's admission to the unit. When babies are born early it can be an overwhelming and stressful time that they have not been able to prepare for. It is a small gesture that allows their families to focus on what matters most: their baby's health and well-being'.
Since the start of the partnership Mama Bamboo are proud to have donated over 45,000 nappies and thus supported nearly 1500 families of sick and premature babies. This equates to 1.5% of our overall revenue given to the Ickle Pickle Children’s Charity.

Founder of Ickle Pickles Rachel Marsh said; 'We are delighted with the success of our partnership with Mama Bamboo and all the hospitals we work with are grateful for their supply of their eco-friendly, super soft nappies. It is fantastic that we have reached the milestone of 45,000 nappies being supplied to families going through such a difficult time in neo-natal units and we look forward to working with Mama Bamboo to extend the supply of their bamboo nappies to Barnet Hospital's Starlight neonatal unit.'

As part of the initiative Mama Bamboo customers have the opportunity to donate nappies to NICU parents through the ‘Give Another Mother’ scheme, where they can simply add a donation to their basket at checkout and Mama Bamboo will match any donation pound for pound.

Our charitable giving also extends abroad with our support of the Oncra approved Bamboo Village in Uganda. The village isn’t just about planting bamboo, they are taking purposeful steps to fight climate change. With 0.5% of our overall revenue being given to the village we support local communities by creating jobs within the bamboo plantation and business village. Through this partnership, we offset our carbon emissions by planting bamboo and help improve the ability for locals to become more self-sufficient.

All of our charitable partnerships are incredibly important to us and we will continue to work hard to ensure that Mama Bamboo can maintain its support of these wonderful and impactful projects, both at home and abroad. Thank you for your continued support, we couldn't do it without you!
