Mama Bamboo launches new partnership with the Ickle Pickles Children's charity

We are delighted to have teamed up with Ickle Pickles to donate our new Size 0 sustainable bamboo nappies to UK neonatal units. There are over 90,000 babies born sick or prematurely in the UK every year. One in seven babies will be admitted to a neonatal ward.

We understand how stressful the experience of a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) can be. We hope our gift of gentle, plant-based nappies and wipes can make that experience a little more comfortable. We want to support parents who, often unexpectedly, find themselves in this situation.

On arrival, families are often given a small number of nappies but will be asked to supply their own within a day. This can be an added stress to an already tense experience. Size 0 nappies are not readily available and those that are tend not be the plant-based, chemical-free versions. We hope by gifting a full pack of Mama Bamboo size 0s, families will have enough for 3 days.

We have started the donation scheme with the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester, Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich, Tunbridge Wells Hospital and Croydon University Hospital. Each unit will each receive a free monthly subscription of size 0 nappies, so each parent has one less thing to worry about. In time we hope to expand this scheme to more hospitals.

Ickle Pickles were instrumental in supporting the design of our Size 0 nappies with the delicate skin of premature babies in mind. They are not only the best for baby but good for Mama Earth, too as they are made from sustainable bamboo which is soft and naturally antibacterial.

You can help us expand the scheme by donating nappies to other neonatal parents. Simply click on the link to donate and we will match every donation pound for pound.
