We are so proud and pleased to announce that Mama Bamboo has been named "Best for the World - Environment" for the second year running by the B-Corp. This means we are one of the top 5% scoring companies in the environment category worldwide.....quite literally the best of the best!
Mama Bamboo score so highly in this category, not only because our products are designed around the principle of using more sustainable materials, and our operations are carbon positive, but also for our commitment to finding a nationwide long-term solution for composting nappies, wipes and other absorbent hygiene products.
Our nappies and wipes are made using bamboo viscose and plant-based corn starch films rather than polyester, polypropylene and polyethylene. Bamboo is a miracle resource; grown organically without the use of pesticides or fertilisers, no false irrigation, and one of the only crops which grows fast enough to keep up with human demand. All our products are wrapped in compostable films or recyclable packaging.
We operate a carbon neutral manufacture and freighting scheme and are carbon positive through our offset afforestation partnership with the Bamboo Village Uganda.
Behind the scenes, we have partnered with the University College London (UCL) to complete a full Lifecycle Assessment of our products, and investigate the establishment of a nationwide composting scheme, contributing regularly to academic and corporate discussions and study groups.
Mama Bamboo was awarded the Sustainability Accelerator grant from the University of Hertfordshire for its work on developing this nationwide service. In collaboration with Envar and Green Bottoms, we are much closer to getting a nationwide pilot scheme up and running next year.
We genuinely consider the environment in every decision made.
